Lathams in a Mini Adventure of it's Own

The UK’s leading timber and panel products distributor, James Latham, has provided materials for a unique project to rebuild one of the all time classic cars, a Mini Moke.
Michael Stephenson of Herrington Gate Furniture, a regular customer of Lathams, has just completed the first of a five car project which is creating a lot of interest, and is sure to have motor fans queuing up to admire this little marvel.
The Mini Moke is a cult car based on a Mini chassis with an appearance similar to a small jeep. The car has a ‘retro’ image, yet Michael is to ensure that his entire fleet of Mokes’ will have the mod-cons of a new car, including satellite navigation, multi disc CD unit, Bluetooth and iPod connections, combined with amplifiers and a speaker system covering all sound ranges.
Lathams supplied Herrington Gate with European Oak, which has been used for the windscreen including sun peak, the dashboard including hand crafted switches, the bumper bars, the rear and side boot lids, and much more. Michael is on target to complete the second Moke soon, finished in Titanium silver, with all wood work made from Walnut which will also be provided by Lathams.
Dave Brown, from James Latham, Gateshead commented: "This is a particularly exciting project and one that we are very pleased to be a part of. To recreate a Mini Moke in itself is a fantastic challenge, but to encompass all the technological additions of a new car is amazing. The European Oak was a perfect choice for this venture and we look forward to seeing the Walnut Mini Moke."
