The longest established timber business in the UK, James Latham continually strives to create awareness on government policies for sourcing timber products. The main aim of the company is to increase the percentage of verified legal and third party certified timber that it imports.

Investing time and money is paramount to James Latham’s environmental commitments, and through working closely with suppliers in Africa, timber purchases are now Verified Legal Origin as a minimum requirement and FSC where possible.

Lathams’ FSC timber stocks have increased enormously with recent additions including Iroko, Sapele and Utile, plus Movingui and Padouk. The business has also expanded its FSC European Oak and PEFC European Beech ranges, and introduced FSC Oak, Black Walnut, Cherry, Ash and Tulipwood to the North American Hardwood range.

On the panel side of the business, James Latham worked closely with mills in China and has recently secured genuine FSC certification for Hardwood throughout plywood. In addition to this, the company portfolio now includes Moralt door blanks (FSC) and Finsa Greenpanel (PEFC MDF).
