New Timber Environmental Guide from Lathams

Logo.gifIn line with its on-going commitment to environmental issues, leading timber and panel distributor, James Latham, has released a new guide to responsible timber purchasing.

The brochure provides customers with information on Latham’s sustainability policies and promotes taking a responsible attitude in protecting the environment by trading wood from well managed forests.

To help preserve and care for the forest, Latham’s has always been dedicated to promoting and supplying timber from legally approved sources, and was the first company to sign up to the Timber Trade Federation’s Responsible Purchasing Policy.

John May, timber director at Lathams, states, "At James Latham we are committed to purchasing and promoting sustainable material whenever and wherever possible. We are aware of our responsibility as a national timber importer to do what we can to buy legally sourced and certified wood."

The guide provides answers to many questions that are frequently asked by customers regarding sustainability. It also explains certification schemes such as the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). An extensive list of FSC, PEFC and SGS accredited products that Lathams supplies can also be found in the guide.
