UK timber and panel products distributor, James Latham, is offering a smart alternative to plywood with its latest environmentally sustainable product, SmartPly OSB.
 
SmartPlyOSB (Oriented Strand Board), from SmartPlyEurope, is an innovative, environmentally friendly timber based product, which is suitable for a range of applications, from floors and roofs to timber frame.
 
SmartPly is manufactured from three layers of wood strands coated with waterproof resins, which is then compressed at high temperatures.  This ensures strength, rigidity and moisture resistance.  The product doesn’t delaminate, has no knot-holes or other structural defects and is cost effective when compared with plywood. 
 
There are two grades of SmartPly OSB.  SmartPly 3 is conditioned for structural use in humid environments, and is suitable for flooring and roofing, for example.  SmartPly 2 is for structural use in dry environments and non-structural uses, such as packaging and furniture.
 
At least 90% of the wood used to make SmartPly comes from well-managed, sustainable forests independently certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council. It is CPD compliant, BBA certified and conforms to BS5268 part 2.
