News from James Latham Summer 2011

James Latham is continuing to invest in areas of activity where we see opportunity of growth such as door blanks and decorative panels.  Plans for additional storage at Hemel Hempstead and Thurrock are highlighted on page six.  Our greatest asset at James Latham is our people, working in all parts of the business.  Our regular section 'Me and My Job' gives different members of the team a chance to explain their role and in the issue on page 12, Lorna Kermeen, who is based at our Purfleet depot, talks about her job as sales representative and Accoya product champion for the Group.

In this edition of Natural Choice we again feature a number of the more recent additions to our product ranges which have enabled us to grow the business in an increasing number of markets.  We have a range of sales brochures available on request or on our website.  Sales of LG HI-MACS have increased significantly during the year, and you don't have to be Uri Geller to bend it!  Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

News from James Latham Summer 2010

This issue of Natural Choice concentrates on the latest additions to our list of products, such as the Moralt door blanks range.  We are also delighted that LG has just signed a five-year supply agreement with us, demonstrating it's backing for the progress that we have made in growing sales of it's products.  Our new WoodEx brochure is now available, setting out our range of laminated timber sections, which can reduce waster and improve stability for the user, as well as increasing raw material utilisation for the producer.  This is part of our product areas which is available on our website as well as in hard copy.

2009 might already have gained its epitaph as the year 'UK business would rather forget', but we have managed to find plenty of good news for this issue of Natural Choice.  Among the bright spots in our business are Hi-Macs acrylic tops and our Bausen Flooring range, where 2009 promised to be a year of continuing growth - both are featured in this issue.

In 2008 we were delighted to have been voted Timber Trade of the year, the top award at the Timber Trades Journal's annual event.  This is testament to the continued commitment and dedication of all members of the Lathams team and we are also grateful to all our customers who voted for us.  This issue also includes a report on progress with our new Scottish branch and reviews our relocation to larger premises at Fareham and Dudley.

This issue of the Natural Choice follows the announcement of the Company's results, which show that the business is in great shape.  Also covered is Peter Lathams trips to Shanghai and Pizhou, as part of a joint UK and Dutch delegation to discuss sustainable forestry issue and Chris Sutton's visit to major suppliers in Indonesia, where he went to find out how the mills are progressing in their attempts to attain genuine FSC accreditation.  This issue also looks at Lathams expansion plans, with an update on our recent move into Scotland and reports on the progress of the planned move to Dudley.

2008 is already set to be an exciting year for Lathams, with the spring opening of our new site in Motherwell and the relocation of the existing business at Eastleigh to larger premises at Fareham.  After a lengthy and anxious wait, Latham have now officially registered 'James Latham, The Natural Choice', incorporating the tree logo and also James Latham are now proud to announce that from March 2008, they are now official sponsors of The Wood Awards.

This issue of Natural Choice highlights those aspects of work that happen behind the scenes when sourcing new panels for the Lathams portfolio as well as ensuring continuity of existing ones.  Also in this edition, James Latham are once again recognised at this years TTJ awards, by walking away with the esteemed title of Panel Trader of the Year 2007, and various case studies on LG HI-MACS natural acrylic stone are featured.

This issue spotlights on the environment, from James Latham sponsoring the Homes for Good Exhibition in Taunton, to John May, Timber Director visiting one of James Latham's responsible timber suppliers in the Congo.  James Latham plc annouces the sales of Nevill Long and James Latham plc Finance Director, David Dunmow is voted runner up in the Real Finance Magazine's Annual Excellence Awards.  Also featuring in this issue is TV's home improvement celebrity Tommy Walsh and his 19th Century four-storey end terrace to which James Latham has supplied European Oak for construction of an outstanding 'barrel formation' staircase and 90m2 of Rustic Oak flooring.
